Artistic Director, Augustin Martinovic

Augustin Martinovic is an exceptional musician and teacher who is dedicated to the highest caliber of performance.  He has painstakingly nurtured a group of good young musicians into an ensemble which demonstrates the best example of what chamber music should be playing which is characterized by the graceful give and take of musical conversation together with a sense and respect for one's colleagues.

Augustin Martinovic studied with Gino Sagrestano and received his Diploma of Professor of Music from the Music Academy of Sarajevo in violin performance and music education in 1972.

He became a member of the Mostar Symphony Orchestra when he was 16.  In 1978 and 1990 he was appointed as Music Director of the Radio Television of Bosnia-Herzegovina (RTV) Symphony Orchestra.

During the one thousand days of war in Sarajevo he and his wife continued to teach and perform.  Their experience has been documented and written into a theatre play "The Music Lesson".
